!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

These are all the places I would like to see along this trip, some are cities, some are landmarks. Not all of them are full day stops, and for all I know I very well may end up in places not on this list.

Those of you with two eyes will notice that I have no points in NV (other than my starting point), AZ, NM, or New England (other than my end point). I have seen much of AZ, NM, and NV while living here and I grew up in New England so I've seen all of that.

If you see something big that you think I'm missing out on let me know.

There are no pins in St. Louis.

Are you a communist?

If you're thinking of working in the auto industry it might be worthwhile to check out more of Ohio. Honda is in Columbus, and there are many suppliers in Toledo, Cleveland, Dayton, Columbus... Don't neglect the rest of Michigan either - The whole state is in the industry, not just Detroit.

What point of interest do you have in Nashville?

Also, I'll second St. Louis. Go to the Arch and Forest Park. Especially the science and art museums.

Nashville. I'm a redneck at heart. Also my aunt lives there.

Bit of both. Most will be on road so that I don't end up spending a year traveling.

Excellent. I live here too. But redneck it isn't. Unless you want it to be. In which case, lower Broadway. :P

Don't see anything in VA either, except for what looks like DC and maybe Virginia Beach? Both massively overrated, though I'm probably biased due to proximity.

Dallas and Lewisville (my parents lived in Lewisville so I would like to see it), Austin (been there but I liked it plus I have family there), and Houston (so that I may annoy ElUly)

I have been to a good bit of Norther VA growing up but never made it to the beach so I figure I should go for good measure. And DC.

Hard to see exactly what your CO pins are. Park-y stuff: RMNP, Dinosaur, CO Nat Mon Offroad-y stuff: the Fruita/Grand Junction area. Front Range: Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins. Too much great stuff there to list, take your pick.

Looks like you're headed for Nags Head/Hatteras as well. A MUCH better beach experience IMO. I'm 2 hours from VA Beach and opt to go to the Outer Banks any time I head for the ocean. Just my $.02.

Carhenge in Nebraska is cool, but is sorta far off I-80 if you're just passing through.

Is the WI dot Road America? I can't tell, but if not it should be...

Probably Theodore Roosevelt National Park around Medora. The badlands can be very pretty scenery.

Exactly. Hopefully I can time it right and get to an event at the brickyard. If not Ill have to call my contacts at speedway to see if they can get me onto the track. I mean it's the freaking brickyard, how could I not.

I could go either way with that one. Estes Park in Colorado was one of my favorite places I've visited in the US. It's where the Shining Hotel is at also.

Not sure if this is something you'd be interested in but the Frontier Army Museum in Ft. Leavenworth KS was pretty interesting. My mom and I stopped there on our road trip from Minneapolis MN to Austin TX for Thanksgiving one year.

The museum is more about the expansion of the US around and after the civil war. Huge portions of the country were unexplored and it basically took the US Army to do the land surveying to plot out the west. It was a sort of "taming of the west."

Barber Motorsports Park/Motorcycle Museum:

https://www.barbermuseum.org/

Birmingham, AL

If you have even a passing interest in motorcycles, even just appreciate the design of them, do not pass this place up. I spent more time in there than I did in the Louvre and I was years away from owning a motorcycle at that point.

Also, this place I found on one of my road trips:

http://www.thelostsea.com/

Basically a huge underground lake you can walk through the caverns and take a boat ride - it's one of those cool roadside attractions things.

Which reminds me: ABSOLUTELY buy a good road atlas, like one of the big Michelin ones and every night study the route you're going to take the next day (I like to split up the travel with interstates/rural roads about 60/40) and look for stuff like this. To me, that was one of the best parts about taking road trips.

I see you've got a pin in Jersey.

As a resident of this state, I have to ask, why?!

This state really has nothing to offer. Unless you like sky high property taxes and too much traffic.

^5, Austin.

I'll be driving up to Seattle next month. The only real planned stops along the way are Independence Pass, SLC and then PCH, the Redwoods and (even though we're a day too late for Monterey, BOO!) Laguna Seca because it's RIGHT THERE on the way back. (This will inevitably lead to me plotting how to get back TO Laguna Seca, preferably with a racecar.)

Yeah, we're gonna get stuck behind RVs and we don't care. I will fart in the Pacific Ocean. (Again.)

In Wisconsin - may I suggest The Dells? And in Florida, perhaps you would enjoy tubing (or snorkeling, my personal fave) the Itchetucknee River in High Springs.
